Day 1 Inquiry T4 2024

→ On monday the 14th of October 2024 we had to learn about the 4 forces and make paper planes. We learnt about what they and what it called.First was Weight,Drag,Thrust and Lift.We First we had to write about a paper plane that we think would go the farthest and then write about why it is good and if it would go far in our classroom. Our teacher told us to buddy up with someone else.I got three and then had to go to a desk and make a paper plane.

Then we had to write about a paper plane that would go far and if it would beat other people’s paper plane.I chose to make Basic Dart as my first one and then had to follow the steps for how to make it.

Once we had finished writing about it we had to get a piece of paper from our teacher and then follow the steps for how to make the paper plane that we chose. When we finished we got to throw it but not hard.

And then we got another piece of paper and then got to pick a different paper plane and then make it.Next I got my second paper I chose one last plane which was Buzz. When making it I got confused with how to fold it so I asked my friend if he knows how to make it.

Then he said yes so then he helped me finish it off with me.When he finished it I got it back a said thank you and then threw it to see what would happen. So when I threw it just came back to me and went in spirals before landing on the floor behind my chair.I knew that Buzz wouldn’t make it far when I throw it hard with the rest of my class.

After everyone finished making their paper planes, me and my class had to go outside and then see how far our paper planes could fly and which paper plane was the best at flying and the fastest.

Everyone went outside and had to wait while the teacher measured how far it was and then put the cones on the ground so we knew how far they could go.Then we got into lines for which people did a paper plane as there first. Then we watched the first group of paper planes fly.

Everyone threw theres with someone else and had to see which one would go the farthest. When it was my turn I threw mine as hard as I could and had to see how far it could go.

I was so nervous that my paper plane would not go far and hit a wall or pole. But then instead of hitting into a wall or pole it went 7.8 metres.

I was so happy that my Basic Dart went that far.I ran to go get my paper plane and ran to find a spot to sit down and watch other people throw there’s.After me was the next group that had to throw their first one and then we had to watch but some of us were playing with our paper planes and throwing them.

Next all of us had to line up and go with the people that have the same paper plane.

And then everyone threw their second one and then had to see if it would go further than our first one.I remembered that when I would throw my Buzz it would just fly around and then come back closer to me.Buzz only went 2.6 metres when I threw it.

After we all threw our paper planes we had to come  back inside and go to our classroom and get our chrome books out and write about how far it went and if we were right about our first paper plane going so far.

We could also get to pick if we wanted to make one more. But some of us just picked to make one or two.Once we had finished we had to blog our task and then write about what had happened and what we learnt about.
